How are organisations across the EU Overseas addressing shared conservation challenges? A new BESTLIFE2030 webinar series will connect grantees across regions to exchange practical experience and learn from one another. Join the first two sessions on 6 and 8 October, focusing on sustainable management and ecosystem restoration.
From individual projects to shared learning
Across the EU Overseas, BESTLIFE2030 grantees are developing and testing practical solutions to biodiversity challenges. While these projects respond to different local contexts, organisations often face similar challenges. The experience they gain along the way can be as valuable as the results themselves, providing lessons and inspiration for others working in different territories.
With more than 130 projects already selected, BESTLIFE2030 is investing not only in projects, but also in the capacity of organisations to design, implement and sustain biodiversity action.
The programme’s new Capacity Development Roadmap provides a framework for this support throughout the project lifecycle. It aims to give applicants and grantees practical and context-adapted support, while creating more opportunities for peer learning and knowledge exchange.
The ambition goes beyond supporting individual projects. BESTLIFE2030 aims to build a community of capable and connected organisations that can learn from one another and contribute to lasting biodiversity action across the EU Overseas.
Introducing the Inter-Regional Knowledge Exchange
The BESTLIFE2030 Inter-Regional Knowledge Exchange is part of this approach.
Through a new series of thematic webinars, grantees will have opportunities to share their approaches, tools, successes and challenges, and learn directly from peers working on similar issues in other regions.
By connecting projects around common themes, the series aims to strengthen collaboration and help useful approaches and lessons be adapted across territories.
The first two exchanges will take place in October and focus on two themes that are relevant to projects across the BESTLIFE2030 regions: sustainable management and ecosystem restoration.
6 October: Sustainable management
08:00 – 10:00 AM CEST | Online | English and French
How are grantees strengthening the sustainable management of biodiversity in different regional contexts?
The first Inter-Regional Knowledge Exchange will bring together grantees from Bonaire in the Dutch Caribbean, Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean and French Polynesia in the Pacific.
Participants will hear how projects are using adaptive approaches, community engagement, habitat restoration and awareness-raising initiatives to support long-term biodiversity outcomes.
Beyond presenting their work, grantees will share practical experience gained during implementation, creating an opportunity to explore common challenges and approaches that could be adapted to other contexts.

8 October: Ecosystem restoration
15:00 – 17:00 PM CEST | Online | English and French
What can restoration projects working in different ecosystems and regions learn from one another?
The second exchange will bring together grantees from Madeira in Macaronesia, Bonaire in the Dutch Caribbean and Guadeloupe in the French Caribbean.
The session will explore how BESTLIFE2030 projects are restoring ecosystems through approaches including mangrove rehabilitation, ecological connectivity, Nature-based Solutions for erosion control and habitat restoration.
Participants will be able to compare experiences across territories, hear about successes and challenges, and explore lessons that could inform restoration work elsewhere.

Learn, exchange and connect across regions
These first two webinars mark the beginning of the BESTLIFE2030 Inter-Regional Knowledge Exchange series. Future exchanges will continue to connect grantees around themes and challenges emerging across the programme.
The initiative forms part of a wider approach to capacity development under BESTLIFE2030. Alongside support for project preparation, contracting, implementation and reporting, the Capacity Development Roadmap will create opportunities for peer learning, communication and knowledge sharing, technical capacity development and longer-term sustainability.
For grantees, the knowledge exchange series offers something simple but important: a space to learn directly from organisations doing similar work in different places, share what has worked and what has not, and build connections across regions.
